As time moves on, we, at Xanadu, have had time to reflect on and streamline how best we are going forward, as well as watch the country’s safety measures put into place and am therefore really confident that now, we, above most, if not all hotels on the Island, are extremely well prepared due to the stringent measures we have adhered to right from the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak and have honored our discipline faultlessly, resulting in us being a very low-risk property in Zanzibar.

Xanadu is an experience, a lifestyle,
an awakening of what life can be, what it should be

It exceeds tranquility, luxury and expectation. Eight uncompromising villas on a stretch of pristine white sand beach, unmatched in Zanzibar, Xanadu has been crafted holistically out of a desire to breathe.

At Xanadu our philosophy is simple and focused – celebrate life! Romance incarnate
A hidden tropical gem crafted holistically out of a desire to breathe. Perched on the coast of Africa’s ‘Spice Island’; Xanadu’s ornate cluster of villas is romance incarnate. There is a lagoon-like swimming pool at the heart of the property which is wonderfully cozy, surrounded by loungers, recycled wooden benches as well as the bar and restaurant around it. Lit up by lanterns at night it is a truly magical setting for a romantic dinner for two.

Amazing – Highly recommended!
Xanadu exceeded every expectation, the kind of holiday experience you dream of. The place is very chilled, right on the quiet beach with warm waters. The resort is luxurious without being uncomfortably ostentatious. The food and wine were fab, the staff was pleasant and respected our privacy, and the owners We left feeling completed rejuvenated. When we go back to Zanzibar, we will stay at Xanadu again. Highly recommended!

Each luxury villa completely unique
Each villa looks slightly different, with décor blending African art (watercolour portraits of Maasai), Arab-influenced furnishings (copper trays and lamps), chunky wardrobes and mirror frames made from reclaimed dhow boats. There’s a Smeg fridge stocked with cold drinks. Lounge and kitchen areas are in a separate building within your villa area, with comfy sofas, coluorful chairs, wildlife paintings, elaborate metalwork, books and more.

Style and Character
Zanzibar was previously a Sultanate of Oman, and the striking dome-shape roofs and large circular rooms reference the Arab history and influence on this spice island. Alongside ornate copper camps and trays, there are African artworks, including black and white watercolours. Villas are set around a makuti-thatched central pool and bar/restaurant area. Vervet monkeys occasionally work their way through the grounds – even they seem pretty chilled out.   9/10 Telegraph Expert Review

Villas come with 24-hour personal butler
Xanadu’s cluster of villas come with 24-hour personal butler service and an 'anytime, anywhere' policy on meals. There are nods to the spice island’s Arab history in domed buildings, alongside African art. Each villa has a private plunge pool, steps away from the Indian Ocean and Bwejuu beach’s soft, white sand.  9/10 Telegraph expert rating

Phenomenal
Attention to everything doesn't cover it. The friendly arrivals, the outstanding food, charming butler, decadent rooms and stunning bathrooms. A huge Asanteni to all involved. With a little bit of luck and a little bit of love we'll see you all again one day. Martin and Adela

Paradise on earth!
Our stay at Xanadu was incredible. The attention to details (fresh flowers in the bedroom and on the dining table every day, fresh cocktails/coconuts to welcome guests back to the hotel) and the Butler service are excellent. The food was top quality too. We can only recommend Xanadu to everyone! Paradise on earth!
