Zanzibar can offer some fun surf depending on the season and conditions. Just a short boat ride away are numerous reefs along the east coast, some of which are ideal for beginners and others for the more advanced surfers. Drinks and snacks can be provided. Guided tour incl. boat ride, board and transfers.

Paje and Jambiani (just South of Xanadu) have become very popular spots for kitesurfing. This stretch of coastline offers excellent opportunities for kiters at all levels and there are several reputable kite schools we can book lessons with.

Marine Diversity

Zanzibar's marine ecosystem is home to a wide range of marine species, including dolphins, turtles, rays, and even the rare dugong. Snorkeling gives you a chance to encounter these creatures in their natural habitat.

Zanzibar offers some world-class Blue Water fishing or sport fishing for species including Wahoo, Black Marlin, Giant Trevally, Greater Barracuda, Dorado, Green Jobfish, Dogtooth Tuna, Snapper, and Yellowfin Tuna.

SCUBA DIVING

Zanzibar‘s Southeast coast is bordered by a reef that has great dive sites for those looking to experience Zanzibar from beneath. Xanadu partners with Buccaneers Diving and Scuba diving can be enjoyed directly in front of Xanadu, further north around the beautiful Mnemba Island, or to the southern region of the island in Kizimkazi.

SAFARI BLUE TOUR

A full-day boat trip offering guests a Robinson Crusoe experience in a traditional dhow visiting small islands and sandbanks off the coast of Zanzibar. Guests can enjoy snorkeling opportunities as well as the great taste of Zanzibari seafood, and the lucky ones might sail or swim alongside dolphins.

Kayaking, Stand Up Paddle boarding are all available to everyone staying at Xanadu. There are several kayaks and SUP boards as well as snorkeling equipment to borrow and the gentle clear waters of the bay make it possible to spot fish, corals and starfish from your board or kayak.
